| Merced River August 17th - 19th 07 Outing |
| The Merced was pretty low on water this year and when I first arrived on Thursday(I had to leave Saturday) and I thought the fishing might be poor. So I decided to just chill out in camp with my trusty dog Sadie and about 50 foreign exchange students (English and French girls) on either side of my camp. Ah.....the outdoors!!! Anyway, Rich McCombs showed up early Friday and took me out to the river for a sound thrashing.... I mean lesson. Jay Jefferson followed up later on that afternoon. Paul Dobin brought his jokes, Mark Teague and Bill Pshide arrived in there fine fishing gear and the Dicks family showed there expertise in putting up a tent in seconds. To my amazement the fishing turned out to be pretty good! Although fishing with Jay and Rick one might want to consider taking mountain climbing gear along as standard gear! Even though I missed the good fishing Saturday evening, It was worth the trip up to see the slide over Hwy 140 and have a couple of monsters rise from the depths to inspect my fly for heart pounding moments. |
